A legacy inspired by one remarkable young man.

Charlie Thomas was supported by one of our founding members, Chalkline Education & Support LTD, from August 2024 after his additional needs meant that accessing education in a traditional setting had become incredibly difficult.

Charlie lived with a number of complex conditions, including a rare form of epilepsy, asthma, osteoporosis, autism and Baraitser-Winter Syndrome. But those diagnoses are only a small part of Charlie's story.

Charlie was funny, creative, incredibly individual — and he absolutely loved Henry Hoover.

Henry, along with the wider family of Numatic characters, became a huge part of Charlie's world. His tutor used that passion to create personalised projects, activities and learning experiences that genuinely meant something to him. Even as Charlie later received palliative care, Henry remained a familiar and much-loved part of his life and his family's home.

Following Charlie's passing, we wanted to create something positive and lasting in his memory.

The Charlie Thomas Project was born from that promise.

Through Nexa Impact CIC, the project will bring together individuals, businesses and organisations to raise awareness, create opportunities, support families facing extraordinarily difficult circumstances and raise funds that can make a meaningful difference.

Part of that journey is about supporting Charlie's family. But it is also about taking the impact of one remarkable young person's story and allowing it to reach further — helping other vulnerable children and young people access experiences, opportunities and support that might otherwise be out of reach.

Charlie left an impact on everyone fortunate enough to be part of his journey.

Now, we want that impact to continue.
